Galle — Galle Dutch Fort & the South Coast
Galle Dutch Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved colonial forts in Asia, first built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later expanded by the Dutch in the 17th, standing right along the Indian Ocean. Most itineraries spend one to two nights here or nearby, combining the fort with genuine beach time.
